What happens the day before Kindergarten begins?

To keep a long story from being very long, and to reduce any suspense you all have of hearing the impending news. I'll just say it short and sweet. Ethan broke his left arm this afternoon. Not just one of the bones, but both his radius and ulna.

I was feeling really tired so I went up to lie down for a bit and the 3 younger kids went out to jump on the trampoline with the sprinkler underneath. After several interruptions later, I hear Ethan screaming and Rylee coming in to report.

Rylee: "Ethan was on the out side of the trampoline net and Evan pushed him off."

I jump up from the bed and as I head down the stairs, Ethan is screaming,

"He broke my arm . . . He broke my arm."

I looked at it and knew that it had been broken. I go upstairs, and

1.)Make a sling for him out of a kitchen towel
2.)Called David to come home
3.)Rylee had invited a friend over to play, so I called her mom to tell her not to send her over. She comes to get Rylee and Evan.
4.)Call my sick friend, whom I had volunteered to make dinner for, to tell her I had to cancel.
5.) Get Ethan into the car and realize I have no idea where to go.

I took him to an urgent care center and asked them where the recommend I take him. He told me to go down to Raleigh where they just opened an Orthopaedic Urgent Care Center. We got there right when they opened at 5pm and after filling out a lot of paper work we were ushered right in. (I'm going to give a little shot out for them. If you ever have someone that breaks a bone, go there! The staff was amazing and so good with Ethan. Plus, it's only an urgent care copay and there was no wait!)

Ethan was amazing, the entire time. He cried when he got a little scared over something, but was such a trooper. When we were finished, I told him I would take him where ever he wanted to go to eat.

All of this and tomorrow is his staggered entry day into Kindergarten. He can't even pull up his pants, or write now because he is left handed. What a way to start his school experience. After 6-8 weeks, he should be as good as new. Or so they tell me.

This is my little trooper feeling the effects of the Tylenol with Codeine.

What an adventure for you! Glad you got the pictures! I hope he isn't too miserable.

Oh, what an adventure school will be! I hope it all goes well. I broke my right arm in Elementary school (actually my left as well but that's not the point) and my teacher assigned me someone to help me do all my writing and test taking...

This will become a story to be told for years to come. Poor little guy. Let's hope that this is his first and LAST broken bone. ;)

Poor kid! He's only 5 and he's had more broken bones than I have!

Where did you take him to eat?
