My First Attempt at Homemade Bread

Okay, I just have to toot my own horn because I don't get to very often. I made my first batch of wheat bread (4 loaves) on Thursday and it was AWESOME! I even ground my own wheat. I got a mixer for Mother's Day/ my birthday and I have put it to great use since I got it. I have also made cinnamin rolls. They were yummy too! I had a requst for the bread recipe and even though it is Michelle Chapman's recipe, I am putting it on my blog. Thanks Michelle and Quentin for making my first batch a success!

Homemade Bread

5 cups hot water
2/3 cup sugar
4 cups flour (if doing half wheat, put it in here)
2/3 cup oil
4 Tlbs yeast

Mix and let stand for 10 minutes

Add 2 Tlbs salt
7-8 more cups of flour

Mix until it pulls away from side of Bowl

Pour oil on counter (not flour)
Divide dough into 4 even balls
Place greased balls into greased pans (large)
Let rise 15 minutes

Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes

When you start, make sure your bowl is VERY large. When the yeast is activated, it can overflow if your bowl is too small. You could use two bowls and split the recipe.
