Helpful Hints

Over the years I have needed each one of these "Helpful Hints" and after reading a friends blog, I thought maybe others could use these ideas as well.

How to remove ball point pen ink: Use a cotton ball with rubbing Alcohol directly in the ink.DO NOT PUT WATER ON IT BEFORE HAND! I personally have to use this every Monday before doing laundry; no lying! My kids draw in church and always get stuff on their church clothes.

How to remove blood from anywhere: use hydrogen peroxide. Dump some on the spot and use a white cloth to gently wipe away.

How to clean poop from carpet: Use peroxide and white cloth. (please test carpet first!)

How to clean candle wax off of carpet: Turn on your iron as if to iron a regular shirt. Get out a couple of pieces of old newspaper, put over the wax and start ironing. Yes, it is that simple!

To keep your celery fresh: wrap it in aluminium foil. It will last for weeks!

My favorite cleaning products:

Mr. Clean Eraser:

This thing cleans everything (oh, except permanent marker on flat paint.) It cleans finger prints, scuff marks from shoes on floor boards, crayon drawings, and even cleans the boogers off my kids' walls. I know you're so happy to know that! Just a penny pinching tip, I cut mine into 4 sections before using. The pad gets smaller as you use it, so I try to get as much use out of it as possible!

Fels Naptha:

If I had more skills, I'd write the 'Ode' to this product that dances in my head every time I use it to clean my kids clothes. I love this product. My laundry wouldn't be the same with out it. I use it ALL the time. If I know the big patch of grass smeared across the knees will leave a stain, I wet the clothes and rub it with Fels Naptha, and the stain is gone. Can't say enough about it. Okay, I do have a confession to make. I buy this product at normal price and without coupons! That is how much I LOVE it!!

Clorox Clean-up Bleach Cleaner:

My neighbor introduced me to this product a couple of years ago and I haven't been without it since. I still have laminate counter top that are a light beige. This stuff gets sprayed on it, and all the stains come off. I spray it everywhere on everything I want white again i.e., kitchen sink, shirts, shower drains, etc.

Now,I want to hear if you all have any helpful hints. I have a ton, but it's after midnight and I still need to shower. So, go have fun cleaning!!!

I've had that Fels-Naptha soap recommended to me, but I haven't been able to find it. I know that you live in NC and I live in UT, but do you have any suggestions as to where I can find it?

Also, I have a penny-pinching tip for you!!! (believe it or not) The Wal-Mart brand of all-purpose cleaner with bleach is every bit as wonderful as the Clorox Clean-up and it's half the price. At our store is sells for under a dollar. But, you probably have coupons for the Clorox, right? ;)

Lys, I found a site to buy Fels Naptha, plus all the other ingredients to make your own laundry detergent. Shipping is $4.95. http://www.soapsgonebuy.com/
